In CT, more than 400,000 Connecticut residents struggle with hunger- 11% More than 25% of the “food insecure” people are children (117,000)
The Darien food insecurity 7.6%, Norwalk 11.2%, Stamford 11.6%
Approximately 29% of Connecticut children (5‐17 years old) are overweight or obese (2014‐ 2016 BRFSS)
About 31% of Connecticut’s kindergarten and third grade students are overweight or obese (2016‐2017 Every Smile Counts).
Food Pantries only carry processed food items
On average, Fruits and Vegetables travel 1,500 miles
Food accounts for 10-30% of a household's carbon emissions
Land needed for Agricultural purposes contribute to 75% of global deforestation
